Mother's Day

As mothers day approaches I have been seeing an increasing amount of sappy tributes, with beautiful mothers and perfect looking children - pictures, stories, blogs and video clips with beautiful music and still shots dripping with romantic perfection.

This seriously irritates me.

Last time I checked my life is not accompanied by sappy background music and any pics I have with long flowy hair and a happy child have been extensively prepared for and posed. How about we celebrate a little bit of reality - because as it turns out that is pretty great too.

Spring Time

We have been doing a lot of lounging around here. I hope you are doing the same.

Avery Prays Part 2

Avery decided tonight was the night she was going to pray. (miracle!)

A: Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for this day and thank you for Heaven and for lunch,
and thank you for sheep and tigers and cheetahs and friends and books and mommy and Lucy and daddy Judd,
and bless to have a good night and me to not scream at mommy and daddy,
and thank you for Jesus.

I love how sheep, tigers and cheetahs are first on the list - and of course don't forget lunch. So stinkin cute.

Avery Prays

We are sitting on Avery's bed. She is upset and crying for her Dad who she has decided she cannot live without at that moment.

M: Avery, why don't you say a prayer to Heavenly Father to help you feel better.

A: (long pause, looks up - big dramatic sigh) OK.

Miracle! Avery refuses to pray almost all of the time. She whispers a soft little prayer...she waits...she thinks about it...

A: THAT DIDN'T WORK! I'M STILL SAD!

Bad Habit #1

Avery has developed her first bad habit.

Just tonight she called to me from her bed:

A: (worried voice) Mom, can you fix them?

M: Fix what?

A: These, my nails, they are not right.

Lights on. Nail inspection. Sure enough, she has successfully bitten off all her nails except for two that are slightly crooked. I trim them up.

A: (stretching out on the bed dramatically) Aaaahhhhhh, that's better. Good night.

Easter Winner

Easter was a success. Good Food. Good Friends.
Great Conference.

But Every holiday has a winning toy. This one was the magnifying glass the Easter bunny found at Walmart for just one dollar. We have been inspecting bugs and flowers ever since.

A Great Laugh

I love this kid. She makes it all worth while.
