Avery's Real Smile

This is what I get when I say "Smile Avery!".

This is what I catch every once in a while. Enhanced by the chocolate face and crazy hair.

My Man

I love this man. I am so impressed with him. Not only was he recently appointed Executive Editor of the Law Review, but he just won a look alike contest...

with Lucy.

Unfortunately I don't have a single pic of the two of them on the day they won. Just imagine Judd's hair long and shaggy and just enough humidity to make them both have exactly the same amount of curl. It was amazing.

Birmingham Reviews Volume One : Zoo Adventures

One of the real gems of Birmingham is the zoo. It is amazing to me that there exists a state with so few animal rights laws that going to the zoo is always a hands on experience. The animals are literally right there in front of you. You can touch quite a few of them, even if you really don't want to.

Needless to say, we LOVE this place.

The Talking Twos

Grocery shopping.

A: Mom - look at those big ones.

M: Avery, ssshhhh.

A: (a little louder) Mom Look! Big ones.

M: (looks the other way)

A: (louder) MOM! those are really big ones!

M: (ignore her..ignore her..look the other way)

A: MOM! LOOK AT THOSE HUGE LADIES!!!

Two full figured women look right at us.

I decide ignoring her is not the best way to get her to stop talking.

Avery Lorraine is her name.

Sunday night there was a thunder storm.

Avery assumes her spot in "daddy's" bed.

A: mom! did you hear that! mom! another big boom! mom! its thunder! mom! are the clouds smashing together? mom! its flashing again! mom! its so bright! mom! what is lightning coming from! mom!...

M: mmmm...uuuhhhh...hhhmmmmmm...

Over an hour later:

A: mom! still more thunder! mom! i hear more! mom! what was that!...

J: AVERY! IF YOU DON'T STOP TALKING AND LIE DOWN I AM TAKING YOU BACK TO YOUR OWN BED!

(Judd has never talked to Avery in anything more than a coo in her entire life.)

A: (eyes wide) Mom...Dad is not kidding around.

And she sleeps.
